Finish Line
The time has finally arrived,
Where the sun can finally set
In the eyes of all who's seen me
Finally cross this road live
Thirteen years of work
Waiting for the stars to align
And now it's all coming in full circle
Driving past the finish line
“Is this really happening?”
I mutter to myself,
Will it be a new beginning?
Or just another end.
My family has been waiting
For time and time again
To see me cross this finish line
With all who I call friends.
Still, the nerves are coming
Like a cold breeze on my neck
Eager, but still nervous,
Am I really all set?
As I cross the finish line
I remember to myself
All those who have guided me
And encouraged to complete grade twelve.
